Tapt Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 15, 2026 · Effective: July 15, 2026
Tapt is operated by Erick Dronski ("Tapt," "we," "us"). We operate the Tapt mobile application and related services (the "App"). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
1. Who can use Tapt
Tapt is intended only for people of legal drinking age in their location (21+ in the United States; 18+ or the applicable age elsewhere). We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the legal drinking age. If you are not of legal drinking age, do not use the App.
2. Information we collect
- Account and profile: your name and email from Sign in with Apple, Google, or another provider you choose; your display name, handle, optional avatar photo, and account identifier.
- Activity and content: the beers you scan, rate, vote on, and log; flavor tags; timestamps; private beer notes; beers you submit; follows, blocks, and safety reports; and featured-partner cards you view or open.
- Location: your selected home region and, when you allow it and use nearby or map features, your precise device location to request breweries, bars, pubs, taprooms, and regional beer results around you. Tapt does not request background location. You can turn location use off in Tapt's privacy choices or in your device settings.
- Preferences and choices: favorite styles, No/Low interest, appearance, social visibility, and privacy-consent settings.
- Device and usage: app and service version information, product interactions, network and security logs, and basic diagnostics used to operate and protect the App.
3. How we use information
- Provide and personalize the App (your Cellar, Passport, recommendations, and local + global discovery).
- Maintain safety, prevent abuse, and comply with law.
- Create aggregated and de-identified statistics (for example, "hazy IPA demand up in Austin"). Aggregated data cannot reasonably identify you.
- Show locally relevant featured-partner cards and measure aggregate impressions and taps. Partners receive only thresholded aggregate results, not a list of individual users.
- Send The Tapt Dispatch only when you separately opt in. You can unsubscribe at any time.
4. How we share information
- Service providers who host and run the App (for example, our database and authentication provider) under contract.
- Aggregated, de-identified insights may be shared or sold to breweries, distributors, and partners. We do not sell data that identifies you personally as part of these insights.
- Featured partners may receive thresholded aggregate reach and engagement metrics. Tapt does not give them your account, contact, or precise-location data.
- Legal reasons: to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect rights and safety.
- Business transfers: if Tapt is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, and the successor may continue to process it under a policy consistent with this one.
Tapt does not use a third-party advertising network, access an advertising identifier, or link your Tapt activity with activity from other companies' apps or websites for tracking.
5. Your choices and rights
- Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information / Limit Use of Sensitive Information: contact us at hello@taptbeer.com or use the in-app control. We honor Global Privacy Control signals where required.
- Access, correction, deletion, and portability: you can request these, and you can delete your account in-app.
- Location: manage permission in your device settings.
- Region-specific rights: residents of California (CCPA/CPRA), the EEA/UK (GDPR), and other regions have additional rights described here or available on request. Precise geolocation is treated as sensitive personal information.
6. Data retention & security
We keep information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App and meet legal obligations, then delete or de-identify it. We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including row-level security and encryption in transit.
7. International transfers
We may process information in the United States and other countries with appropriate safeguards.
8. Changes
We will post changes here and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be notified in-app where required.
